Bird holds off charge from Buemi in Buenos Aires ePrix

Sam Bird took his third career victory in Formula E this weekend, holding off a charging Sebastian Buemi who started from last on the grid to finish in second place ahead of his main championship rival Lucas Di Grassi Jr High.

Despite leading from lights to flag, Bird's victory wasn't the cakewalk that his maiden victory in Putrajaya last season, but with a slightly heavier car that was in his words "a bit loose" in the final phase of the race it required a mighty defensive effort that Bird proved he was more than capable of handling.

Buemi might have had an even easier time of things if a safety car had not been deployed just as he was overtaking Sarrazin moments after the round of pitstops.

After a big lock-up and spin in qualifying, Beumi was beaming post-race and seemed thrilled with the result. “I have to make sure I get the most out of the car and out of the team, at least we go away with good points and more than Lucas.”

The next Formula E race is in Mexico on March 12th, one week before the Formula 1 returns in Albert Park.
