Susie Wolff retires from motorsport short of achieving F1 dream

After becoming the first woman to take part in a Formula One session in 22 years, Susie Wolff has announced that she is retiring from motorsport to pursue new challenges.

Williams released an official statement in which Wolff states that she believes F1 is ready for a woman driver, yet her own article has a slightly different tone.

"My progression into Formula 1 came to represent so much more than a racing driver simply trying to reach the pinnacle of the sport. It was also the hope that finally there may again be a female on the starting grid. I rode the wave, was energized by all the support and fought hard. There were those who wanted it to happen. Those who didn't."

I can't imagine, nor do I want to know, who didn't want to see Susie succeed in Formula One. I'd rather remember that Wolff came closer than thousands of other hopefuls even dare to dream, and how impeccably she approached her work and the opportunities that came her way.

"Fuck fish," indeed.
